Following our trend of bringing you the latest poker news daily, today we have some exciting news for you from the WPT European Championship Berlin Season XVI tournament. Indian pro Kunal Patni, Adda52 Team Pro, has finished the tourney at 39th place for INR 4.74 Lacs.

The First-Ever WPT European Championship

WPT European Championship Berlin Season XVI €3,300 Main Event proved to be grand success with over 339 entries of players participating in the event. During Day 1a of the event a total of 111 players entered the field with a further 184 entries on Day 1b. On Day 2 44 participants were left to battle it out for the winning title. After 4 days of serious poker war, poker pro Ole Schemion from Germany along with Michal Mrakes & Hanyong Kuo made it to the top 3 stacks. Among the 6 remaining finalists of the first-ever WPT European Championship, the winner will bank a whopping €218,435 and will win an entry into the WPT Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas in May 2018.

Making India Proud

The only Indian poker player who survived in the event was Adda52 Team Pro Kunal Patni who played strong and began the day with the top stack. Patni even managed to make it in the money. However, after being defeated by chip leader Schemion he lost a heavy pot and finished in the 39th rank. Kunal Patni & Ole Schemion went heads-up on the flop where Patni bet 15,000 and Schemion checked. Then he check-raised to 50,000 & Patni called. At the turn Ole bet 75,000 and Kunal called to view the river. As the German poker star went all-in the Indian pro called. Hence, Schemion defeated Patni, who ended up banking €6,125.

Kunal Patni has performed exceptionally well throughout the WPT European Championship Berlin tournament and he has won over INR 78 Lacs in January 2018. Earlier this month, he became the runner-up at the WPTDeepStacks Berlin Main Event winning a whopping INR 73.21 Lacs. Later, he took part in the Poker Floor Cup event hosted at the WPT Berlin and came in the 5th position out of 520 entries.

In his social media profile, Patni wrote “Sweet end to the series. Came 5th out of 520 players in the Poker Floor Cup event at WPT Berlin. Disappointed that couldn’t lay my hands on the super cool Berlin Bear trophy (for top 3 only). Won’t complain though as came to day 2 with only 16bb and 120 players left. Played some great short stack poker throughout the day (never had a stack of 25bb)!! Overall a fantastic series for me. Berlin – you have been good to me!!”

We wish Kunal Patni all the best for his future endeavors and wish to see him win more tournaments. For more of the latest poker news India keep following Poker Indian Group.
