The poker world is following the rest of the sports world up close, as brand associations continue in the industry that stayed away from limelight all these years. PokerMet a new online poker gaming website recently made two consecutive announcements of signing up Dhaval Mudgal and Shuchi Chamaria Agarwal as their Team Pro and PokerBaazi also took to the race by signing in Maria Kirloskar as their Team Pro just yesterday.
Maria is the first female of pro members in the PokerBaazi team which already possesses a formidable list of reputable poker pros, such as the likes of Vikram Kumar, Abhishek Panda and Jasven Saigal, who represent PokerBaazi in both domestic as well as major international poker events.
Such ambitious branding tradition in the world of Indian poker was first started by PokerBaazi when they signed off Bollywood actress Sunny Leone as their brand ambassador in 2016. Clearly these are optimistic new beginnings in poker, bringing the game out of the misunderstood shadows into the mainstream with famous faces supporting the sport and promoting this skill-based game!
While Dhaval Mudgal is a pro poker player playing the game seriously with great results for a decade now, Shuchi better known as Mrs. Aditya Agarwal is new to the field and is still making great strides towards poker wins as one of the upcoming female poker players in India. Before signing in with PokerBaazi, Maria ‘dr4gonlady’ Kirloskar was a part of the Star Poker Team pro, but she had dropped this alliance back in 2016.
A female poker star changing the face of poker’s apparent misogyny only began playing the game seriously a couple years ago and started her journey into poker, back in 2015. Apart from poker her list of achievements include 25 years in the corporate sector with extensive experience in publishing and research, knowledge management and communications, Maria holds a BA degree from Allegheney College, Pennsylvania.
She has also co-authored a book titled – “Leading with Knowledge: Knowledge Management Practices in Global Infotech Companies”. This book was published by Tata-McGraw Hill in 2003 and was edited by Dr. Madanmohan Rao.
With these exciting developments in the poker industry it is safe to presume that the start-up saga of India is ready to add a new chapter of poker online gaming industry, with estimations of this sector being as high as whopping USD 120 million boasting a sustainable profit-generating model.
