Here is some great news for all Indian poker enthusiasts. India’s most popular female poker pro Muskan Sethi’s will be honored by The President of India Ram Nath Kovind in November 2017. The grand event will celebrate 100 women pioneers who have achieved considerable success in fields that are traditionally considered male-dominated careers. This is a great achievement not only for Muskan but also for the entire Indian poker community.
During the event, Muskan Sethi will be felicitated and awarded by our honorable President along with 99 other successful women pioneers from all over India. Sethi, who is widely considered as one of the most successful Indian poker pros, will be recognized as ‘India’s First Woman to Play Professional Poker’. The list of women to be honored at the event consists of a wide assortment from various fields like Harshini Kanhekar (India’s first woman firefighter), Radhika Menon (first female merchant navy captain), Priya Jhingan, (first cadet in Indian Army), Punita Arora, (first Indian woman lieutenant general) and Ira Singhal (first differently-abled woman to rank highest in the civil services). The selection of the unique 100 women champions was made by Union Cabinet Minister of Women & Child Development Smt. Maneka Gandhi.
Regarding this honor, Sethi said in an interview to PokerGuru “I was officially contacted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of our country in July. They informed me that I was selected to receive this honor and I still can’t believe it. It’s hard to express how I feel, my journey so far is flashing before my eyes, feeling blessed and really looking forward.”
The stunning poker player has been in the game for the last 7 years and has won $44,310 in live tournament and a whopping $114,597 in poker cash games online as ‘musku89’. There is no doubt that Sethi is serious about Poker and pursues the game professionally with unwavering dedication, hard work and perseverance. She considers Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst and Phil Ivey as her idols and has been personally coached Grayson Nichols and Elliot Roe.
Muskan Sethi has already left her mark at international poker tournaments and is the only Indian woman poker pro to attend the WSOP (World Series of Poker) in 2013. For her amazing poker skills, the Indian beauty was invited to the PokerStars Shark Cage TV show back in 2014 where she became the runner-up. She was recently recognized as a rising star by the Global Poker League and was appointed as the manager for GPL’ Delhi Diehards.
